Before I became a Benefits Advisor, I used to own a remodeling business with my twin brother. While we did much of the work ourselves, we also acted as the General Contractor.
And after doing it enough, three common themes emerged for success:
- Control - For the homeowner, this meant setting a budget. Otherwise, the project could spiral and no one is happy when they spend more than anticipated.
- Align - This meant using experts when needed. There's value in being a jack of all trades but hiring the right subcontractors means getting a complicated job done on time and on budget.
- Reward - The happiest homeowners were the ones who loved the final product. There is no better reward than that.
