A Tip to Help Your Employees Save Money on Their Medications

Each year the cost of receiving care or treatment gets more expensive for consumers – not to mention more and more complicated.  At Connor & Gallagher OneSource, we focus on educating our customer’s employees on correct plan usage and giving them the support they need to shop for their care.

CGO partners with hundreds of population management companies to provide tools to better manage claims and control costs.  A growing number of employers are providing resources to assist with physician selection, care navigation, or providing access to pricing transparency or teledoc tools.

One specific example, available at no cost, is through GoodRx.   GoodRx allows individuals to benchmark their prescription drug prices outside of their health program (available to individuals that are covered under a medical plan, or have not coverage at all).  By inputting the drug – GoodRx will benchmark drug prices at local pharmacies (based on ZIP code).  GoodRx offers consumers the following options for their prescriptions:

  • Pharmacy prices – (Jewel Osco, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc.) – and generic equivalents available
  • Coupons – available through drug manufacturers website (link provided by GoodRx)
  • Discounts – available by presenting GoodRx card, coupon, smart phone
  • Savings Tips – pill splitting, cheaper alternatives

There is no cost to the program.  Individuals can order a wallet card, print available coupons, or use an application on their iPhone or Android.

GoodRx compares prices (just like you do for travel or electronics) for your prescriptions at pharmacies near you.

The video below shows how easy the program works, and how you can save:
