Two new posters recently became required for employers in Illinois. One is required to be posted now and the other by January 1, 2019.
The Illinois Department of Human Rights issued a new Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Poster. The poster was issued in September of 2018 pursuant to Public Act 100-0588. In addition to the poster, the act states it is a civil rights violation of the Act if an employer fails to include in a posting and in an employee handbook, information concerning the rights of employees to be free from discrimination or sexual harassment. You can download the poster here and the notice to employers which outlines information about the poster and the posting requirements in the Company’s handbook.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has issued a poster pursuant to the Illinois Service member Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (ISERRA). This is a new law applicable to public and private employers that aligns Illinois’ military law with the federal law USERRA. This poster should be displayed by January 1, 2019. You can download the poster here.
